Always a fan of local teams, I was more than happy to be the legal counsel acting for Thunder Sports Management in the acquisition of the Langley Thunder Lacrosse Junior A Team (formerly South Fraser Stickmen). You just never know if that other great Canadian sport may be reinstated as an Olympic event one day...maybe once the ice has melted. The team's new location in the Township of Langley also marked the opening of the state-of-the-art Langley Events Centre. Look out for the motion offence as tonight sees the rematch of the Junior Thunder's first home game on their new rink.

With the change in weather, we often retrieve those thoughts of changing how and where we live. For some it's gardening, for others it's a spot of DIY or bringing in the builders for major renovations. Ah yes, with a name like ours,

We wrote a note a few weeks back about extra-provincial registration. Well, April 27 is the day that marks a new era in corporate records compliance. (We think this is really exciting news, but maybe we don't get out much.) As of today, Trade, Investment and Labour Mobility Agreement legislative initiatives in BC and Alberta permit companies in both jurisdictions to seamlessly register to do business in the other province. Companies doing business in both provinces will enjoy a simplified extra-provincial registration process, and the ability to automatically refresh their registration when filing their annual report in their home province. Anything for a simpler approach, you know! |

Last month, Sherree Elliot and I had the opportunity to flee the office and the courts for an inspiring presentation by Fiona Walsh at the eWomen Networking luncheon. In any business it is important to spend time away from your own four walls to connect with other professionals in the community. The philosophy of eWomen is to approach networking from a position of abundance, where giving to others leads to unlimited opportunities for all.
