RIP Canadian Wheat Board
07 December 2011
Now that our Happy Planet mayor is back in the saddle for another term, we can be re-assured that we can continue to convert our front lawns to grow wheat. Even better news is that, since the House of Commons last week voted to end the Canadian Wheat Board's 76-year monopoly on the sale of wheat...

JaniceMooreA graduate of the University of British Columbia Law School, Janice was called to the Bar in 1999, and joined GreenWay in 2005 after working for a major Vancouver law firm, and as contract counsel for the Law Society of BC.

While working with the Law Society she assisted Court appointed lawyers in their role as Custodians when the Law Society took control of a law firm for such reasons as misappropriation of trust funds or death. One such Custodianship - Martin Wirick Custodianship - was the largest in Canadian history, involving a lawyer who was eventually disbarred for what appeared to be a misappropriation of at least 40 million dollars. Janice was involved with this file for over two years assisting the Custodian, the Law Society, forensic accountants, auditors, collections bodies, government officials and Revenue Canada, as well as a myriad of other Law Society departments and external parties involved in the investigation and winding up of the law practice.

Since joining the firm, Janice has maintained a general practice involving residential and commercial real estate and development, business and commercial, construction law, wills and estates and many litigation files with a primary focus on collections and insolvency matters.

As the head of GreenWay¹s collection department, Janice provides advice and assistance to many clients seeking collections and litigation advice, and acts as collection counsel to two well known and respected Collection agencies in British Columbia and Canada, and the State of Arizona.

Janice recently acted for a client who was one of 25 defendants in what would have been one of the largest leaky condo litigations in British Columbia. The matter recently settled on the eve of trial but not without attendances at many mediations, weekly pre-trial conferences and other such pre-trial discoveries and appearances in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, sometimes before the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

Janice is a member of the Board of Directors - SouthWorld Wine Society (2008 - present), a member of the Parent Advisory Committee - False Creek Elementary School (2002 - present) and a past member of the Board of Directors - Novaco Child Care Society (1999 - 2000).
